Our EquiAid Emergency First Aid for Horses course offers a comprehensive introduction to managing common medical emergencies in horses. This course does not cover advanced veterinary medical procedures regulated by law and the state veterinary practice act.

  • Applying Emergency Splints: Learn techniques for applying emergency splints to support injured limbs.
  • Performing Quick Release Ties and Using Safety Ropes: Master the use of quick release ties and safety ropes for secure and safe horse handling.
  • Essential Supplies in the Equine First Aid Kit: Identify and learn how to use important items in the equine first aid kit.
  • Treating Specific Emergencies: Acquire knowledge on providing first aid for severe bleeding, burns, eye injuries, digestive issues, and handling emergencies that occur on trails or at horse shows.

This course equips you with the essential skills and knowledge to respond effectively to a range of medical emergencies in horses.

Designed for horse owners, equine professionals, veterinary staff, 4H and FFA to learn how to manage medical emergencies that happen with horses

  • This is an interactive class with a live instructor.
  • Participants are required to have a stuffed animal to practice on, a good internet connection, video and audio access. Instructor MUST be able to view everyone in attendance.
  • Attendance and participation in the class is required for certification.
  • Only paid participants will be allowed to view the presentation. Make sure you pay for each person that will be in attendance.
  • Everyone must have a laptop or desktop computer with monitor to be able to view the presentation. Smartphones are greatly discouraged as the screen is too small to view the presentation.
    • If multiple paid participants are at the same location they may share the same device to attend the class however the instructor must see everyone clearly in the video window on zoom.
  • Class combines lecture, Q&A session, and interactive hands-on portion with feedback from the instructor.
  • Instructors are credentialed veterinary technicians and classes offer not only RACE approved CEU but certification in animal CPR, First Aid, and emergency response. 

Zoom login information will be sent to you 1-2 days prior to the class.

This course in no way will teach how to administer veterinary care and is an introductory emergency first aid course for horse owners and equine professionals to learn how to manage a medical emergency until veterinary care can be ascertained.

  • 2 year subscription to the Pet Emergency Education Online Resource Center
  • An official certificate may be printed immediately upon completion of the class

  • Stables and/or groups can request a framable certificate to hang in their barn, observation room, etc. to show that you are certified.
