Getting Ready for Your Class

What you need to know before teaching a class

We want you to present a great experience to your class participants. Our programs are designed to provide a basic overview of first aid and CPR for dogs and cats. Throughout this training program we will provide suggestions on optimum ways to teach the material however you are welcome to have some academic freedom. There are however restricted topics mentioned at the bottom of this page that are not to be discussed in any of our classes.

Please read through all of the components in this module including the lesson plans, class PowerPoint, E-book and most importantly view all of the videos in the Training Videos folder. The videos demonstrate step by step exactly how CPR is to be taught by you in your classes. You are welcome to use some of the training videos in your classes if you should so choose. They are all hosted on Youtube and need internet access to play. Videos are only allowed to be presented during Pet Emergency Education training classes and are not to be used for any other purpose. They are copyright protected.

Rules about the PowerPoint- When you purchase your instructors kit you will immediately receive a link to download and editable version of our class PowerPoint. No material can be deleted or changed from the class PowerPoint. We are an approved educational entity by over 5 prestigious organizations and our classes are approved by them based on the exact information that is taught in our classes. Class material cannot be deviated from however you may additional relevant material unique to your area that you audience may be interested in such as rattlesnake bite, hurricanes, wildfires, etc. Anyone wishing to add material to the PowerPoint must email our office with your slides as you would like to add them for approval. Any conflicting information to what is presented in our reference guide or by our company will not be allowed.

Rules about the E-Book– The E-Book is a view only file and cannot be downloaded nor printed. If any of your class attendees ask about accessing the E-Book, this is the information you are to provide to them. Printed books can be purchased by a participant when they register with us and we will send you all of the books and any other retail items with the cards and certificates right before the class is held. You will be responsible for passing out any books and retails items to the participants who paid for them. The list of whom purchased an item will be on your roster

Our curriculum is approved by the veterinary boards and must be strictly adhered to. No one is allowed to delete any information out of the PowerPoint but you may add additional material that you feel will be beneficial to participants in your area. For example, some instructors teach about snake bites as they live in areas where that injury is common. Any additional material you add MUST be pre approved by our office. As we mentioned be have very strict oversight from the veterinary community and we DO NOT allow any subject matter to be taught that is deemed restricted by the veterinary practice act. Some the forbidden content not allowed to be taught is:

  • No one may teach any information nor answer any questions in a class about medications both over the counter and prescription.
  • No one may teach about medical procedures restricted by the Veterinary Practice Act including but not limited to surgical procedures, advanced emergency skills such as placing catheters, endotracheal intubation, fluid therapy or other procedures often performed on humans but not allowed on animals.
  • At no time may instructors discuss controversial subject matter in a class, including but not limited to: Controversial information and organizations such as animal rights organizations, training equipment and training methods, personal opinions on animal breeds and breed laws and regulations, etc. This is a factual training program that teaches documented scientifically proven information to class participants

Every trainee must be “tested” on the material taught in any of our classes. You may choose to test your students in the following ways:

  • Hands on observation of the student performing the skills
  • Written test
  • Both hands on and written testing

Once we received the roster from you validating that the trainee has completed and passed the training they will receive an email from us with their log in information to their account on our website. This is where they will obtain their official certificate. Emails are usually sent within 48-72 hours after we receive your roster.
