Upload W9 for Independent Contractors

All instructors must have a completed and signed W9 on file before they can begin the training. A W9 is an IRS tax document that will be used to track your compensation and report that to the IRS as is required for independent contractors. Be aware that independent contractors are NOT employees and therefore we do not withhold any taxes from your compensation.

A business may pay an independent contractor and an employee for the same or similar work, but there are important legal differences between the two. For the employee, the company withholds income tax, Social Security, and Medicare from wages paid. For the independent contractor, the company does not withhold taxes. Employment and labor laws also do not apply to independent contractors.

Our accounting firm will issue a 1099 at the beginning of each year to you for tax purposes. We are not financial advisers and therefore any questions about being an independent contractor, how to fill out the W9 or your tax filing will need to be directed to your tax professional. You may also visit the IRS website at IRS Website
