Certification Program Overview
The Canine Wilderness Emergency First Aid course is designed for individuals who work with dogs and participate in outdoor activities where access to emergency veterinary care may be limited. This program is especially valuable for those whose dogs are prone to injuries due to adventurous activities.
This comprehensive course equips participants with essential skills, including how to prevent medical emergencies from escalating, what to do when emergencies occur, and how to provide immediate first aid to an injured dog in remote areas. Participants will also learn how to condition their dogs for strenuous activities, with a focus on injury prevention.
Topics covered include:
- Assessing and responding to emergencies in wilderness settings
- Techniques for stabilizing injured dogs until professional care is available
- Preventative measures to keep dogs safe during outdoor adventures
- First aid protocols for common injuries encountered during trail hiking, camping, water activities, and hunting

Course Access and Structure
- Course Duration: The course must be completed within 30 days from the date of purchase.
- Course Navigation: Begin your course by clicking the links below. The course is sequential; you must complete each section before moving to the next. At the end of each topic, click the green button at the bottom right corner of the page to confirm completion and receive credit in the grade book.
- Progress Tracking: Monitor your progress using the progress bar at the top of the page and the sidebar. You can log in and out as needed but must finish the course within 30 days.
Quizzes and Exams
- Assessments: Each module ends with a quiz, and there is a final exam at the end of the course. You have unlimited attempts to pass these assessments, but you must achieve a 100% score.
E-Books and Printed Books
- E-Books: Access your e-book in the Course Introduction section. E-books are web-hosted and can only be viewed online; they are not downloadable or printable.
- Printed Books: If you purchased a printed book, it will be mailed within a couple of business days from the date of purchase. You will receive a tracking number via email when the book is shipped.
